American Pancakes
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of flour
- 2 large spoons of sugar
- 2 small teaspoons of baking powder
- ½ small teaspoon of salt
- 1 cup of milk
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons melted butter or cooking oil
Preparation:
In a deep bowl, sift the flour with a sieve and add the sugar, salt and pastry. Stir. In another bowl, beat the egg, but not too much. Add the milk and melted butter and stir. Stir the liquid ingredient mixture into the dry ingredients bowl. Stir gently to combine, but do not overbeat. Don’t worry if there are small lumps in the mixture. Heat a frying pan over medium heat and coat it with a little cooking oil or butter. Using a ladle, put the thick mixture into the pan. Pour in one place and the mixture will spread so that it takes a circular shape (with a diameter of about 10cm). Bake the pancakes until they are golden brown (about 2 and a half minutes). Then flip them over to the other side. Makes 10-15 pancakes, depending on the size. Pancakes are stacked several on top of each other and topped with honey or maple syrup, and spread with Mama’s vanilla cream, banana or other fruit of choice is added.
